ABOUT REY WOWOR
Not Just a Singer, but an Entertainer
A native of Jakarta, Indonesia, Rey started singing professionally at the age of 13, by which time she had already recorded her first album, a compilation of children's songs. She then auditioned for Indonesian National TV (TVRI) and qualified, appearing 2-3 times a month on various programs. By 1982, she recorded covers of songs by Gloria Estefan and Cher.
Because her parents are from Minahasa, in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, as a teenager she started singing to the accompaniment of Kolintang music for 10 years, performing with groups such as Kolintang Scorpio and Kolintang the Ton's, both in concerts and on TV, as well as recording albums featuring traditional songs accompanied by the Kolintang.
Rey was also a member of the permanent singers with Harvey Malaiholo and his late grandfather, Om Bram Titaley in the Hawaiian Seniors group led by the late Mr. Hoegeng Imam Santoso.
When living in Jakarta, Rey often performed at wedding events, concerts in various Indonesian provinces, on TV, and abroad, in countries such as Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, China, and Bangladesh.
In 1984, Rey decided to pursue her studies in the US. While there, Rey continued to perform, singing at events at the Indonesian Consulate as well as weddings. She even won several vocal group competitions in Los Angeles. In 1989, Rey returned to Jakarta and continued singing while also maintaining a full-time job.
In 1992, Rey formed a trio, THE RYMS (named after the members, REY, YUYUN & MURNI). They appeared on several TV stations in Jakarta and even performed in concerts abroad in Sydney, Houston, Miami, and New Orleans.
In 1995 Rey moved to Atlanta with her husband, a native Englishman, Dr. David Graham, and a couple years later, gave birth to their son, Terence Alexander Graham (Terry).
After 24 years of living in several US cities including Atlanta, New Orleans, Boston, and Miami, Rey and David spent 3 years living in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Finally, this year Rey and David moved to a beautiful island nation in the Eastern Caribbean, Antigua and Barbuda, where she performs until this day.
